Since joining Smith & Gesteland, LLP in 1974, Dennis has provided growing businesses with advice on business and tax planning. He is the Managing Partner of the firm while also maintaining a relationship role with some of our larger clients. As a key advisor to owner/manager teams, he provides a strategic perspective on the affect of business decisions. Dennis also helps his clients establish systems to monitor key business indicators.

Advising Growing Businesses
Dennis provides financial advice and guidance to businesses at all stages of growth, from infancy on. This work has included evaluating the profit potential of new business ideas, developing key elements of a strategic plan, assisting with financial reporting systems and office procedures, developing compensation programs, tax posturing to conserve working capital, and assisting with planning for funding needs to accommodate growth.

Tax Planning
Dennis has extensive experience with tax planning for clients. He has developed strategies to minimize corporate and personal tax, such as advice on entity selection, inventory elections and exploring the availability of credits. His advice has resulted in significant tax reductions for clients. Dennis' experience also includes business acquisitions and reorganizations and successfully representing clients in tax audits.

Advisory Services for Closely-Held Businesses
Dennis works with owners/managers of closely-held companies in the manufacturing, distribution, service, and construction industries to build and preserve their personal wealth. He assists clients with structuring buy/sell agreements, business valuation, executive compensation planning, obtaining bank financing, ownership transition and estate planning.
