Smith & Gesteland’s Chief Financial Officer Receives New Designation
Smith & Gesteland is pleased to announce Ben Pechan, CPA recently received the designation of Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP).
The CCIFP designation is granted by the Institute of Certified Construction Industry Financial Professionals (ICCIFP), which is dedicated to high standards and best practices for financial professionals serving the construction industry. The credential was established in 2003 as a standard for recognizing dedicated, reliable financial professionals with deep knowledge and understanding of the construction industry. A small handful of business advisors currently hold this designation in Wisconsin.
“As accountants, we continually work on professional development and learning,” said William M. Pellino, CPA, ABV, CVA, Managing Partner of Smith & Gesteland. “Ben receiving the CCIFP designation is only the beginning for our firm. We have plans for other team members to take the CCIFP exam, putting us on track to be the premier accounting firm for construction companies in Wisconsin.”
Since joining Smith & Gesteland in 2016, Pechan has served as the firm’s Chief Financial Officer. While his primary focus includes the firm’s strategic planning, Pechan also consults with the firm’s accountants on best practices and serves as a subject matter expert for the firm’s construction and real estate industry niche services groups. His previous experience included serving as controller at a national general contractor.
Pechan holds both a Master of Accountancy degree and a Bachelor in Business Administration degree with an emphasis in accounting, which he earned from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
